Hypnosis, or the state of hypnosis is a very natural state.
Although it is an altered state of consciousness, it can more
easily be seen as an altered state of awareness. This is the
same state of awareness one can find while engrossed in an
interesting book or in the “zone” of sports competition. While
in these beneficial states, one can access things in the
subconscious. When reading the book, one can feel as if they are
a part of the literature. This can be experienced emotionally,
audibly, visibly and in the tactile sense. This all leads to a
more complete experience as one can better absorb what is
experienced, not just read. Athletes are able to overlook the
idea of their actions and move on “instinct”.In other words,
hypnosis is great for not only accelerated learning (e.g.
studies or habits), but also increased accessibility to one’s
subconscious mind. The subconscious holds one’s memories,
emotions and accesses the autonomic nervous system.
Considering all hypnosis takes place within, the healing process
is in the hands of the client. It is not the advice of the
hypnotist, but the realization of new opportunities of the
client that makes hypnosis so effective
