James
Huss, Sensei - Suenaka
Zenzan Dojo
As founder and Sensei of Suenaka Zenzan Dojo,
James offers traditional instruction in Aikido and Karatedo. The Suenaka School
of Martial Arts teaches Suenaka-ha Tetsugaku-ho Aikido, which means "Suenaka
style, philosophical way." Equal emphasis is placed on physical and personal
betterment. Aikido students develop strength, balance and flexibility of both
body and mind, and in so doing learn self-discipline, moderation, and compassion
for others. Because aikido techniques do not rely on physical size or strength
to be effective, it is ideal for men and women of all fitness levels.
The karate style taught at the Suenaka School of Martial Arts is Matsumura Seito
Hakutsuru Shorin-ryu Katatedo and Kobudo, otherwise known as "White Crane"
Karate. The style is crisp yet graceful, incorporating some grappling and many
traditional karate weapons. It requires a good degree of physical fitness, which
is developed during study. It is both an effective method of self-defense and a
path to personal betterment.
